6) Foundation Types
There are many different types of foundations that we routinely use in the Houston area. These include pilings (wood, concrete and fiberglass), crawl space or raised floor foundations, post tention concrete or floating slabs, rebar and concrete slabs, slabs on bell-bottom piers, raised foundations on footers, pony wall on slabs and others. The style of the home and the soil conditions of your property underneath the home as well as personal preference of you and the professional engineer can all have an impact on the type of slab that is used for your home.
In probably all cases, if you purchase a plan from a website or from a local architect or designer, the foundation for the plan will have to be designed custom for your project. If the plans happen to have a foundation design, it will probably need to be thrown away.
